Shōkō was a twentieth century painter who also made more than one hundred prints featuring flowers and (or) birds. Ten examples (pictures 1-10) are shown in this gallery. Click on a picture to enlarge it. He colored flowers and birds with sufficient accuracy to allow them to be easily identified by a knowledgeable viewer but their shapes were often less rounded than in real life. Shōkō taught his style of drawing to his son Atsushi. Ten of Atsushi’s prints are also included in this gallery (pictures 11-20). To see more pictures by the Uemuras click here.
